Two ACP Teachers, David
Blair and Matthew
Hitchings, are working with the Indiana University High
Energy Physics group and the QuarkNet Project. David is working with
the group (Light
Quark Physics Group) doing experiments searching for
exotic types of mesons at the Jefferson
Lab in Newport News, VA. David is working on the
development
of a heavy liquid calorimeter. Matthew is working with
Indiana physicists on the D0
detector at Fermilab.
Also working on the QuarkNet project this summer, as a Fermilab employee, is Indiana undergrad physics major, Kathy Plinske. Kathy, who is a Wells Scholar and STARS scholar, works with the Light Quark Group. Kathy participated in a number of ACP Physics Seminars in the recent past.
QuarkNet brings high school students and teachers to the frontier of 21st century research that seeks to resolvesome of the mysteries about the structure of matter and the fundamental forces of nature.
