Title: A physicist's guide to the landmine/unexploded ordnance problem: theory and experiment
Abstract:
I will give an overview of the technical and scientific issues underlying the landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) problems. I will briefly describe the various technologies that are being brought to bear, and then concentrate on my own work with electromagnetic induction (EMI) sensors (basically high-tech metal detectors), which appear to show the most promise.
