 		Find here item relevant to homework for P221 Fall '07. This will be updated throughout the semester. Check back frequently. As explained in course information , we will have two different types of homework in this class: www and handwritten. www homework is administered via WileyPlus. Check our WileyPlus (local) page for more info about www homework. This page documents our written (paper) homework. Paper homework is to be turned into dropbox outside of SW132 (just up stairs from SW007). The assignments are linked in the course syllabus and repeated here.

Guidelines

Excepting pHW00 (where you just fill in answers and turn in), we will require a certain format for the paper homeworks. The idea is to give you practice in understanding the problems well enough to write up a nice (short) report for their solution. Imagine that you are writing a solution to show others how to do the problem. A one line answer is definately not enough for these homework sets and you'll receive very little credit for a solution like that. Here are additional guidelines:

  • It may be handwritten or typeset (using MS word or similar). If handwritten, it must be legible. If your handwriting isnt legible, you'll need to typeset it.
  • Use words to describe the steps. An essay isnt required, but enough to understand the solution.
  • Descibe the problem, draw a picture, and show the steps.
  • The answers should use correct number of sig. digits.
  • Plots should be neatly drawn and correctly labeled . They can be computer generated and inserted into problem.
  • Staple the sheets together and turn into drop box (SW132) into the proper slot for your discussion section.
  • The work must be your own. You can talk about it with others, but you must understand and write up your original solution. Copying from others is cheating and will be dealt with.
  • P221f07 paper homework example . This is an example of a pretty good paper homework for this class. Do this well or better.
Assignments
These will be graded on a 25pt scale.
  • pHW00: Math Quiz Due: Fri 8/31, 6pm. If you have trouble with the assignment, dust off the math books and review and/or go to our Links Page and check out some of the math review links found there.
