Trip to Fermilab

We traveled to fermilab for an overnight trip from April 4th-5th and get a "backstage" tour the facility from some of IU's faculty and scientists.

Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma Congress

Three members traveled to Fermilab for the (November 6-8) 2008 Society of Physics Students and Sigma Pi Sigma Quadrennial Congress. They spent a packed weekend making new connections, interacting with Fermilab scientists and distinguished speakers, debating common concerns for the discipline and society, and touring Fermilab's unique experiments and grounds.

Physics and Astronomy Open Houses

Each year the Physics and Astronomy community at Indiana University hosts an Open House. The physics club is in charge of putting on a lecture-demonstrations show filled fun physics experiments. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on demonstrations in the Indoor and Outdoor Exploration areas.

BloomingKids Lab Demonstrations

BloomingKids is part of a state-wide program that pairs up local 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students with college students, acting as mentors, to form "buddy pairs." The Physics Club invited some of these kids to Swain to show them some exciting physics demos. Check out some of the pictures below.

SPS Zone 8 Meeting

On April 16 and 17, 2004 the club hosted a zone meeting for the Society of Physics Students. For more information check out the main page below.

Argonne National Laboratory

On Saturday 03/06 the IUPAS joined physics students from IU South Bend to tour Argonne National Laboratory. We received comprehensive tours of the following labs: Intense Pulsed Neutron Source (IPNS), Argonne Tandem-Linear Accelerator System (ATLAS), and the Advanced Photon Source (APS).
