UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH IN PHYSICS
AT INDIANA UNIVERSITY
SUMMER
2010
GENERAL INFORMATION
PROGRAM:
The
Indiana University Department of Physics will offer summer research
positions to outstanding undergraduate students majoring in physics. The participants will gain direct
research experience by working in ongoing experimental or theoretical research
programs in accelerator physics, biophysics, condensed matter physics,
elementary particle and high energy physics, medical physics, and nuclear physics
in projects supervised by Indiana University faculty and senior scientific
staff. All students attend weekly
seminars on current research in physics, and will have the opportunity to
attend machine shop and scientific computer programming mini-courses. At the completion of the Summer
Program, each student will submit a written report on the research and will
present the results in a seminar at a closing Symposium. The program is scheduled from Monday,
June 7 through Friday August 13, 2010; alternative dates may be arranged
on an individual basis. For
